A Florida escort has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing her husband in an apparent suicide.
Kimberly McLean, 45, pleaded guilty in March to second-degree murder and kidnapping charges in the death of her husband, Eric McLean Jr., in May 2016.
The Palm Beach Post reported that the couple had two children.
The death was ruled a homicide by a Florida court, but prosecutors argued the killing was a crime of passion because of a struggle between the couple and McLean’s husband.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Eric and Kim were arguing when Kim got a gun and fired a shot into his head.
Eric McLeod was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kim pleaded guilty to second degree murder and abduction charges and was sentenced to 30 years in state prison, according to The Associated Press.
She also pleaded guilty and was fined $2,000.
A third person was also charged with kidnapping in the case and was given a suspended sentence of two years, but has not been sentenced.
